Things to do and see in and around Cumbria and the Lake District

The Lakes Distillery is a driving force behind a revolution of 'new world' whisky distilleries. As an English distillery based in the heart of the Lake District, our contemporary family of brands have to speak for themselves. Our signature spirit, the Lakes Malt, will not be released for general sale until 2018. But we don't stop at malt spirit.

Find out more about our award winning family of spirits:

  • The one and only British Isles blended whisky, the ONE.
  • The Lakes Gin, the only gin with true Cumbrian provenance.
  • The Lakes Vodka - the only vodka produced in the Lake District  www.lakesdistillery.com

Stuck for day out ideas? Take a trip to England's only true Mountain Forest which, luckily enough, also homes a high ropes adventure. Go Ape Whinlatter might just be the answer to your day out dreams! This is one of the highest Tree Top Adventures in the country, sitting at 360m above sea level. At that kind of altitude zip wires feel especially fast, particularly as you fly far above the waters of the Lake District! Over five areas challenge yourself to Tarzan swings, rope ladders and more. You can even find your way to the forest floor and try out a Forest Segway Adventure. https://goape.co.uk/

The World of Beatrix Potter is a vibrant family attraction, bringing to life all 23 enchanting stories in a magical recreation of the beautiful Lake District countryside. The exhibition features favourite characters from the famous books including Peter Rabbit and Mrs Tiggy-winkle, and the outdoor Peter Rabbit Garden offers visitors a timeless view of Mr. McGregor's vegetable patch. Kids can enjoy a free activity sheet whilst grownups absorb themselves in Miss Potter’s history in the fascinating virtual world and interactive area. With a superb character-themed family friendly cafe and a world-famous gift shop, all generations of visitors can experience a little bit of Beatrix Potter magic, whatever the weather! http://www.hop-skip-jump.com/
